Hi, I’m Jen!
I’m a paediatric speech and language therapist and I have worked in my NHS role for 14 years. I am also a Regional Makaton Tutor which means I have been through a rigorous training process with The Makaton Charity to gain a license to teach the Makaton Language Program including the use of Makaton signs and symbols.
I loved attending baby and toddler groups with my two children. There is so many to choose from now but there are still none that focus specifically on speech, language and communication skills.
I started ‘Baby Signing Club’ when my two children with both in school. The uptake has been amazing! I didn’t realise that so many families would be as keen as me on learning about infant language development!
I now run several sessions for a range of babies, toddlers and preschoolers and felt that a name change would better reflect the younger group of children that I support as a while and so our popular little group was transformed in to ‘Little Talkers.’
About Little Talkers
When we talk, we often use gestures as part of our communication. Babies are very good at picking up on these gestures and using them to communicate.
Come along and learn signs that are organised in to topics and songs that can be used at home with your child and are great to share with others! We also give additional hints and tips to guide your little one’s language development.
Our friendly groups are run by Speech and Language Therapists who will get your brain going! We also include time to chat to other parents over a hot coffee/tea and take requests!
HOW TO BOOK
Come and join our lovely warm and friendly classes in South Manchester. You will learn useful and helpful signs that you can use in your everyday life. You will also enjoy a drink and a biscuit at the end of the session while chatting to other local parents.
We run weekly classes in Heaton Moor and Didsbury. Each week we have a different theme and learn signs, learn how to sign to a topic-related song, play early communication games and take your signing requests!
